Important Information About Removal Of Hair By Laser Risks

laser hair removal risks are rare, but prospective clients should be cognizant of them. Here is a brief overview about various laser hair removal risks, their control and treatment.

Scarring
Most clients are naturally concerned about the risk of scarring when undergoing laser hair reduction treatment. While this has been known to occur in the past, particularly in clients with dark skin, these days the effective laser equipment has all but eliminated this complication.

Darkening of the Skin
Whichever the type of laser used, there may be hyper pigmentation of skin after applying lasers. In this reaction the skin darkens because of increased pigment deposition. Usually dark skin has a greater chance to suffer from this. On the plus side is that it can be effectively treated with the use of bleaching creams and is only temporary.

Lightening of the Skin
Lightening of the dermis, or hypo pigmentation, can occur, especially in dark skin types and where there are a large number of exposures to laser procedures. It normally is only temporary; permanent hypo pigmentation is almost unknown. This complication is mostly experienced with use of alexandrite, Q-switched ruby and Nd:YAG lasers.

Reddening of the Skin
The dermis may be temporarily reddened after continuous laser exposure. It is one of the minor laser hair removal risks. Efficient cooling and the use of appropriate exposure time during the treatment minimizes this complication.

Skin Blistering
With the development of new and efficient cooling tools, blistering has been almost eliminated as a laser hair removal consequence. Tissue cooling can be carried out through a contact chill tip or cryogen spray to protect the dermis. These measures serve to protect the skin from excessive thermal abuse.

Injury to Eye
Laser eye safety is vitally important during any treatment involving lasers. To avoid any damage to the eyes, wavelength-specific laser safety eyewear must be employed by both operators and clients.

Crusting of the Surface of the Skin
10% of clients treated for reduction of hair with laser with long-pulsed ruby and alexandrite lasers may suffer from crusting. This is often because of repeatedly over treating an area of the body with laser. When this occurs, appropriate postoperative care is highly recommended in order to avoid further complications.

Wound Infection
Wound infection is rare after laser procedures. If by chance any wounds are visible on the dermis after reduction of hair with laser, infection can be controlled with antibiotic and anti viral creams.

Effect on Tattoos
If you have tattoos in the area of the body being treated, be aware that darkening may occur and discuss this with your clinician before undergoing laser procedures.

How Concerned Should You Be?
reduction of hair with laser is normally a safe treatment and the above mentioned side effects are very rare. laser hair removal risks can be prevented by having a proper knowledge of the treatment and choosing a good laser clinic and a well reputed clinician who takes care of clients after treatment difficulties and uses effective and well maintained laser equipment.
