Heartburn doesn’t actually have anything to do with our hearts. What causes the burning sensation many of us feel after we’ve eaten is stomach acid or bile moving up into our esophagus. There are antacids; H-2-receptor blocks and proton pump inhibitors that can help to stop heartburn. Of course we’ve all been told to have a glass of milk while we eat, or after we eat, or even have a glass of milk when we start to feel the symptoms of heartburn and in a lot of cases it can help with the discomfort of heartburn.

Heartburn can also lead to causes of chronic caught and can also mimic asthma and despite it’s name has nothing to do with the heart, but is caused by acid that comes back up to the esophagus. Heartburn however can have similar sensations to acid reflux disease.
